Unit 6 Dialogues

Three dialogues, line by line: a man who prays fajr at home because he sleeps through the adhān, two travellers bound for Mecca and Medina, and a friend who finds the mosque too far until he is called lazy. Then the book's own eight questions on the third one, and its two exercises. Read each line aloud before 🔊, reveal the meaning only when you need it.

Reproduced from the class textbook, Unit 6: three dialogue pages, plus the exercise pages filed in the exam 2 folder (photos in your library) · translations match Lesson 6 · one past-tense verb is flagged in §4

Your browser has no Arabic voice installed, so the 🔊 buttons will stay silent. On a Mac: System Settings → Accessibility → Spoken Content → add an Arabic voice (e.g. “Majed”).

1. مُصْطَفى وقُصَيّ: the five prayers

2. عِصام وصالِح: two travellers

Not one verb until the last line. “I am travelling”, “I am going” are describing words after the person, like Unit 1's أَنا طالِبٌ.

3. صادِق وصابِر: the ʿaṣr adhān

4. The book's eight questions on dialogue 3

The exercise printed under the third dialogue: تَدْريب: أَجِبْ بِنَعَمْ (✓) أَوْ بِلا (X) , answer with yes or no. Read each statement aloud, decide, then open the answer. The paper prints no key; these are worked from the dialogue.

5. The book's two exercises (p.5)

Exercise 1: put the prayers in order

رَتِّبِ الصَّلَواتِ الخَمْسَ بِوَضْعِ الأَرْقامِ ١، ٢، ٣، ٤، ٥ في المُرَبَّعاتِ. Number the five prayers 1 to 5 in the boxes. The page prints them, right to left:

Exercise 2: the odd word out

ضَعْ عَلامَةَ (X) عَلى الكَلِمَةِ الغَريبَةِ. Six rows of four. Say the row, pick the stranger, then open the answer.

Done speaking? Test yourself in Lesson 6, drill the Unit 6 flashcards, see what مَعَكَ, بِجانِبِكَ and لِلصَّلاةِ are doing in the prepositions chapter, then sit the practice paper after Units 5–6. Anything unclear? Bring it to your teacher, in class.
